Here is my part to the viral video project that our group had to redo… starring me! directed by me. lighting and filming was by Luke.

sketch book stuff

here are a few relavent thing for my projects that i had in my sketch book that i forgot to post on my blog

now that i am sick at home i have plenty of time to scan them in.

first off is my MAYA mind map that i did before i started the project:

as you can see most of my ideas sucked for this project but at least i got it done in the end.

next is my story boards for the viral video redo:

i am aware the drawing kinda suck on these storyboards btw i rushed them really badly

finally phil beards asked us all to think about global warming and the environment.

personally i don’t like to get involved in this stuff people always go off on a huge debate on wether its been proven or if its actually happening.

in a way there isn’t much point in protecting the environment  because eventually the earth is going to boil into the sun and we will all be destroyed! I know this won’t happen for millions of years but why wait? i say we have fun before human kind is cooked alive then blown away!

i am not saying i don’t recycle i am just saying it seems like we’re keeping the patient alive a lil longer just so it can suffer the worst fate of all.

anyway here are some ideas i had for the environment.

maya project!

well i have had some changes in ideas since the start of this project.

first idea:

talking old guy with little girl voice – TOO HARD

second idea:

coke can opening – TOO SIMPLE AND DULL

third idea:

gun with coke can on the barrel shooting coke – TOO HARD AND DOES NOT MAKE SENCE

now i have done an animation of a gun shooting a coke can off a shelf.

(Alice Lewis came up with that one really)

i have done it without the muzzle flash from the gun if i have time i will do it on after effects

anyway here is my master piece*

also me and alex decided on the new viral video idea to be about blu tack and the rest of the guys  (juno, luke, james) are on board!

MAYA project is stepping on my grills!

Personally i cannot stand MAYA it is really complex and hard to work with.

this is why i am not looking forward to my project.

basically we have to apply computer graphics from MAYA to a soud recording.

at first i had the great idea of creating a cartoony old guy talking but with a young girls voice!

however i think this is going to be really hard to pull off so i decided to change to something much simpler.

i have decided to make a recording of a coke can being opened (you know when you can hear the hiss from the can) then record it being crushed in my hand.

then i was going to animate a drink can in maya to the sound.

hopefully this will be so much easier!

VIRAL VIDEO [EPIC FAIL]

well i have ‘finished’ my viral video project with ALEX C., JAMES, LUKE, JUNO AND MYSELF.

The idea was to make a prank drawing tutorial for my fans on newgrounds and others who want to learn draw something.

(FEAR MY MIGHTY ACTING SKILLS!!!)

the layout was to make it look professional at first then have the video gradually change to a terrible drawing from someone who obviously doesn’t know what he is doing…also i was supposed to get more cocky as the video progressed.

in terms of views and feed back the video was a success, it had been on youtube for just under a week and received 267 views i got alot of messages from my fans on newgrounds.com that they loved the humor and it was a good parody. (i was actually expecting alot of angry reply’s but instead i got some thumbs up)

However, we have to redo the whole project because it was not good enough.

at first i was pretty angry at the news, but that was because i was not aware that the production value was more important than the views… i thought it just had to be viral, but unfortunatley it was more about how well it is filmed.

also the video was too long.

BUT… it isn’t all bad because the next viral video idea is even better and they are going to be short and snappy and hopefully look very professional and still have a comedic side to them… also the jokes are not as dark as the ones in the tutorial so it is going to apply to more then just the 14 year old boys from newgrounds.

i wanted to keep him very simple and easy to animate so that it would be easier to animate it hand drawn.

i got the inspiration for his design from 2 viral flash animators:

as you can see they both have a similar style.

often there animations are very crude but thats why i love them.
